Objective:

  • • Control the exhaust flow of a solid rocket motor by actuation of a pintle valve. Our portion is designing the actuation system to achieve position control of the pintle. This project is being completed with collaboration from ATK and Moog Inc. On a larger scale the system is to be used in a series of ground tests to develop the attitude control motor for NASA’s launch abort system on the ARES I.
